An intelligent robot with feelings who has a past of murder and, at present, loves its soap operas? Introducing Murderbot.

This is an extremely quick read. The first entry in The Murderbot Diaries quartet is only 144 pages in ebook format. The protagonist, while being a very advanced security robot, has very human emotions. It goes on a mission with a crew of scientists and surveyors and something goes wrong. This is the story, from Murderbot's perspective, of discovering and dealing with the problems that arise.

It's a fine read. There's nothing really wrong with it. It's just quick. So, there's not much world-building, character exploration, or advanced plotting. But it's fun and unique. I don't think it deserves all of the attention and awards that it has received in the last few years, but I'm glad I read it and will read future entires in the series.
