The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow

4.75

Beautiful prose and concept; it reminded me so much of Morgenstern's Starless Sea, but I much prefer what harrow did with the concept.  It's much more hopeful and empowering. However, I have to dock it for hurting the dog and letting us believe he died in pain for far too many pages.
