CW: religion  I can relate to Adam’s point of view since I am the youngest child of the family.  The relationship between me and my older brother is like the relationship between Adam and Victor. Sometimes, he irritates me, sometimes he teaches me something.  The pacing of the story is perfect, especially when Adam sneaks out to interact with humans even though that is forbidden.  The romance in the book is written perfectly with slow sparks.  I can relate to Adam’s internal conflicts: either to stay with his family or to risk his family, so he can be with the humans?  As someone who is both Queer and Asian and someone raised in a religious home, I am not sure which side I should be on. Be Queer and ignore the norms set on me as an Asian person? (Possibly insulting my ancestors when I change my gender)
Be Asian and ignore the Queer part of me? Follow the faith that I’m raised in and suppress the Queer part of me? (Note: this only apply to the churches that I attended while growing up since they followed binary norms)
