More mystery and more poison. It seems like Maomao’s expertise is in poison. She does well, especially in her deductions on the event. I was confused as to why the lady-in-waiting for the Virtuous Consort (Consort Lishu) would switch the poisoned soup with Consort Gyushu’s. They’re all poisoned, that’s why the minister who didn’t believe Maomao’s deduction and drank a sip is sick. The humor in this book good. I suspect Jinshi is the emperor’s brother or of a high nobility or has some connection with Maomao- I gather this from the hairpin he wore and Maomao’s father’s comment on it being fate she’s in the Inner Palace.
