I Am the Mission by Allen Zadoff
4.0
I first read Boy Nobody/I Am The Weapon back in 2015 and seriously enjoyed it but I didn't have the sequels on my hands- so you know how it gets, months pass before you get the next book and by then you're busy or reading other things. But I finally got to rereading the first book the other day and it held up just as much as I remembered it the first time and dove right into the sequel (and will be diving right in to the final book next). And legit- these books are just plain fun and compelling.
Just as the first book, the predictable happens only for the unpredictable (well, at least for me, someone who doesn't typically read these kinds of books) to soon follow after that will take you by surprise. There's a good mix of multi-faceted characters and characters that are just there to meet a certain trope. Hoping the next book fleshes out some of the other characters more and fills in the gaps for them. I'm continuing to love the characterization of the MC and without giving anything away, I just have to say that I think the way his thought process is written and his internal struggles make the character feel so real and believable and not 2-dimensional and flat.
Really enjoying the overall plot line of this series and am stoked to see how it all ends.
Also, Howard remains the best.
