The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman

3.0

I really enjoyed The Golden Compass so I'm quite disappointed with this sequel. We are ripped from the rich world of Lyra Balacqua and tossed back into our own, only to be thrown into a third dark and confusing world. The back and forth would have been tolerable had the dialogue been better or the characters been further developed. I felt like the book lacked the depth the first had shown. Because of the change of local, it is also missing many of the characters I liked the first book for. I *might* have read the third, had it not come right out and declared the point of all this was to kill the ultimate authority, god. Bored now.
