Let Us Believe in the Beginning of the Cold Season: Selected Poems by Forugh Farrokhzad

4.0

"You are embedded in the smile of my tomorrows"

“Isn’t the earth, trembling under your feet
lonelier than you are?”

Reading poetry in translation is always tricky. For, no matter how good the translator is, some of its original charm is always lost in translation.

Regardless, this is a great collection. Love, desire, longing, religious allusions... There's a little bit of everything in these 100-odd pages.

Some poems truly moved me, others - I didn't care for. But if you love poetry, this is in no way a waste of your time!
