The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
5.0
I have never laughed or cried so much while reading a book! I'm beyond impressed at the emotional reactions this book evoked in me. And for that, primarily, I'm giving it a 5-star rating!
This book was a fantastical love story that started out a little slowly but which picked up pace and never stopped. Each of the characters was more lovable than the next. I will say that when it came to the orphans, I was very distracted early on trying to remember who they each were and what their special abilities were. I ended up doing a quick Google search for a character cheat sheet for this book, printed it out and kept it with me while I read. That allowed me to enjoy the story and not be so focused on trying to remember who was who. Other then that, my only complaint is that I desperately wanted a picture of all of the characters. Like the picture described at the end of the book. I just wanted to be able to SEE all of the delightful characters I'd read about for the past 400 pages. Mr. Klune, if you're reading this, I beg of you, a picture please :)
Otherwise, this book was simply delightful. Not my style of book at all, but delightful all the same.
