Shield of Winter by Nalini Singh

4.5*s

I loved the story of Ivy and Vasic.

Ivy is a strong heroine who survived being brutally reconditioned because her Silence was flawed--because she is a rare, high level empath. Now empaths are needed to fight an infection in the NetMind, and the Arrows Are given the task of protecting and working with the empaths (Es).

Vasic was tortured and brutalized during his training as an Arrow. And the things he's had to do since then have put a black stain on his heart. He lost his will to live and volunteered to become a human guinea pig for an experimental biofusion gauntlet. But the gauntlet is malfunctioning and his time is running out. Just when he has found Ivy.

Ivy is determined to melt the winter shield around Vasic's heart, because she knows he feels deeply even though outwardly he is a cold Arrow. But if she does, will he survive for them to have a chance at a life together?

WINTER SHIELD is a beautiful story about learning to love that will touch your heart. And it is sprinkled with humor throughout, many of the lines delivered deadpan by Vasic himself.

Do I think WS is the strongest, most powerful book in the series? In all honesty, no. But I loved Vasic, and Vasic and Ivy together. I look forward to seeing them again in the future.

I hope Aden gets a book!
