Safety Measures by Maeve Hazel

4.0

I recently finished reading this book, and I have to say, it's a solid 4-star read. The story revolves around Blaise, who faced a tough childhood after losing her parents, but found unwavering support in Ares. Their dynamic is heartwarming, with Ares being her go-to person through thick and thin.

What I enjoyed most was the relatable nature of the characters and their emotional journeys. The writing style flows smoothly, making it an easy and enjoyable read. Hazel skillfully balances heartwarming moments with the right amount of tension to keep you turning the pages. Ares' struggles with family dynamics and his determination to protect his loved ones add a realistic touch to the narrative. Blaise's internal conflict and her attempt to adhere to the self-imposed rule create a compelling tension that will keep you hooked.

While the plot may seem familiar, the author brings a fresh perspective and authenticity to the characters' experiences. The pacing is well-executed, and the dialogue feels natural, making it easy to connect with the characters on a personal level. I won't give away any spoilers, I will say that the resolution is satisfying, and the characters' growth is well-developed.

If you're in the mood for a heartfelt romance with a touch of drama, this book is definitely worth picking up.
