 I saw a blurb on tumblr that called this a lesbian Pacific Rim without robots, and I couldn't NOT read it after that. Turns out that was a very on-point review. I love the characters, the monsters, the pirates, the found family, the GIANT MONSTER FIGHT SCENES! It is very good and has a definite fic flavored enemies to lovers type romance. It also ends on a ?!?! note, and I liked the story enough I think I'll actually read the sequel. This should also be an easy booktalk for our 8th graders.
