Troubling Love by Elena Ferrante

3.0

Melancholic and not relatable. I did like the writing how it was a fever dream and almost like magical realism bc you aren’t sure what is reality and a mirage, what is past and present.

I also for some reason love when books take place in a hot and stuffy city in the summer lol.

So In other words, it reminded me of Untold Night and Day! Only here it’s Naples Italy not Korea.

I loved her writing at times and can tell she has raw talent since this was her first novel. However, many times I didn’t know what she was trying to say, and the language was too choppy and confusing. This is comparing her later works to this work. As always the translation is SO good, but I jus think this was written before Ferrante really got good.
