My Oxford Year by Julia Whelan

4.0

This started off rather slow. I was convinced it would be a straightforward 3-star read for me: nothing too surprising or out of the ordinary, just an easy contemporary novel. But around halfway through, that shifted for me. What I expected to be a run-of-the-mill rom-com type scenario when I started ended up pulling at more heartstrings than I anticipated. I read the second half of the book in one sitting on my day off! This doesn't quite pack the punch that a 5-star read would for me, but it's a pretty solid 4. Maybe a 3.75, because of that slow start. It was a sweet premise and I loved the American-in-Oxford vibes. Left me satisfied and having felt a range of emotions!
