I enjoyed this book. Some scattered thoughts:
  • It's very funny to me when authors publish books post-covid that seem to predict key features of the pandemic, and have to include huge disclaimers that they just did a lot of research on infectious diseases. It obviously makes sense that a lot of research led to the way the story was laid out, but the similarities are uncanny!
  • Unfortunately for the author, I couldn't stop comparing this book to Station Eleven. The structure of the story shares some characteristics, especially with how interconnected the characters are (it was almost a Love Actually style network of relationships), but I feel like SE did it better and more elegantly. This was still enjoyable and well written.
  • Seems unrealistic that the most likable character in this story was a cop.
