I had mixed feelings about the Count of Monte Cristo.  Alexandre Dumas weaves an intricate plot, but I found it difficult to like or feel for any of the major characters in the novel.  This lack of feeling likely lessened the novel’s appeal.  At times, the plot was compelling while other times, the story dragged.
