Illustration Studio: Inking Florals: A step-by-step guide to creating dynamic modern florals in ink and watercolor by Isa Down

5.0

I enjoyed this small volume very much for botanical life drawing. She shows you how to break down a flower and draw each element individually so you understand how the flower is put together. Unlike other botanical books, this tutorial is based off using real flowers and photos of flowers to learn, so you actually learn which leaves go with the flower.

But rather than look like hotel art, she shows you different watercolor techniques to add whimsy and vividness to the botanicals. I’ve learned a lot using this book and can envision using this method to make cards/postcards.
