Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE Omnibus, Vol. 1 by CLAMP

4.0

Rereading the series in tandem with xxxHolic in 2022

Even though the first 3 volumes do handle arcs that were present in the anime, I found myself entranced in the story. I am obsessed with Tsubasa, to be completely honest I never thought I wouldn't like it.

I obviously already love the characters and the plot development, slightly faster than the anime but that's always good in shonen.
I have to mention the art, though. I was very pleasantly surprised by the art in Tsubasa. I've read little of Clamp's works (like Cardcaptor Sakura, Kobato) and both had completely different style to this one. I loved the intense black and the use of background hiragana.
Some might find the art a bit annoying, because there's mostly no background or backdrop when the characters are interacting, which I find both simplistic and artistic at the same time. Of course, when the background is actually drawn, it's super detailed and intricate. Loved it!

I really can't wait to learn more about this world than what I already know, so happy they released these omnibus versions.
