Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer

adventurous funny lighthearted mysterious medium-paced

4.5

I really enjoyed this book! The entire premise was fun and refreshing with enough familiar elements that I felt comfortable and fully immersed. I didn’t know what to expect going into it since I went in blind, but there was so much here I loved. The fmc, Evie, has an internal monologue that kept me giggling and made her feel really relatable. The mmc, the villain, was broody and mysterious which for me is always a delicious combo. I loved them combined and the journey they go on together both in terms of literally the journey of the story and also just getting to know each other really. There’s a good mystery element to this story that kept me wanting to read. The writing was great and the characters felt well constructed and unique from each other. I’m excited to see where this series goes!
