almost a 4 star i think??

this book is a mammoth dive into one man and the events that happens to him and his relatives that shape his life. i found this book frustrating from part 7 to part 9 i would say but part 10 recovered this book entirely for me.
reading the acknowledgements really showed me how much effort and time and care was put into writing this book
im not sure how to express how i feel right now so maybe ill come back to write my full review but i was definitely frustrated for a while. also theres a lot of grand reveals in the second half of the book that i feel were too frequent like im not gasping at them idk how to express this feeling fully

an incredibly well written and researched book that cumulates into a hugely interesting feat of writing
i enjoyed the characters very much

i like how the stories all intersect and the last part is very satisfying

i do agree with other people that it was too long to tell this story though. like it could have been shorter and still told the whole thing.

idk ill come back with more thoughts i think
