The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

5.0

I don't think I've ever read such a beautiful book that resonated so much with me. The mystery, the intrigue, the discovery and the self-discovery is so deliciously accessible in a so-thin-it's-nearly-transparent shroud of inaccessibility. I loved that the characters were as unto themselves as they are reflective of us. I loved that there was nothing absolute about it. I loved how demonstrably it expressed the gray that is so often perceived as black and white, neither of which exist.

The only thing I don't love is that I cannot find the words to describe the experience so accurately and assiduously as Stu Turton.

It was one of my favorite reading experiences, if not my favorite, and one of the best reads in recent memory. Smiling through a few stray tears. Thanks, Stu - and I loved that you lent your editor's name to a character and the reminder that there are plenty of Graces in the world.
