Review: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien

Quotes: "I would have guided Frodo to Mordor and gone with him to the end;"

"..that way lies our hope, where sits our greatest fear. Doom hangs still on a thread. Yet hope there is still if we can but stand unconquered for a little while."

'What's taters, precious, eh, what's taters?'
"Po- ta - toes,' said Sam."

"I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend."

"But where there's life there's hope. "

Review/Thoughts:
I love this story.
You get to appreciate the genius of Tolkien even more. Or at least I did. So many iconic moments. I had forgotten how short the Battle of Helms Deep is in the book.
You get to see more of the heart of the story. How all the different members of the Fellowship are important in their roles, even apart from one another. Legolas willing to die to defend Gimli from the riders of Rohan / Eomer. Gimli willing to stand with Aragorn against the entire guard of Edoras. Gandalf helping King Théoden to see the light again. Getting introduced to Éowyn.
How truly close Gimli and Legolas became. Faramir proving his quality. His interactions with Sam have become some of my favorite moments in this beloved story. Faramir deserves more respect. I imagined people reading this when it first released and how they reacted when they read the chapter: The Choices of Master Samwise.. and that ending. 🤯
Sam has always been my favorite character. But Éowyn, and Faramir have definitely grown on me.

Learned some small things:
That Treebeard is the oldest living thing that walks beneath the sun in middle-earth.
That Orcs steal black horses from Rohan.

Thanks for reading.
