Love, Lies and Lemon Cake by Sue Watson

4.0

Delicious. First of all, I run a regular blog post called "Literary Eats" where I highlight great food in great books. I will definitely be asking Ms. Watson if I can feature her book because THE FOOD IN THIS BOOK IS AMAZEBALLS!! And the book is lovely. Just lovely. I reached for this when my brain was exhausted after the first 2 books of Middlemarch. I needed a holiday. LL&LC was perfection. A slice of cake. The story was light, but not silly or overly-sweet. The characters were likable, but not cookie-cutter. The ending was perfectly satisfyingÑnot wrapped up in a bow, not a cliffhanger. Your imagination could take it anywhere. And like I said, the food was mouthwateringly good. A truly enjoyable read by a talented author. Now, hand over that secret lemon cake recipe. Immediately!
