I did the audio book, and while the narrator was decent, there were certain inflections that were distracting...

A very intriguing story, with a unique twist on the dystopian future. But in all honesty, I felt that this book could have been about 1/3 shorter. There seemed a lot of extra and filler and drawn out scenes. While I appreciate the "Lord of the Flies" feel, seeing as no one over the age of 14 survived the "poof"...the level of violence was at times very difficult to digest. How did these young kids get to that level of violence in the matter of a few days?

I don't know if I will continue this series or not. I did get used to the narrator. And overall the story did keep me engaged, and wanting to find out what happens, but I am not sure I am invested enough to keep going through the remaining books.
