A fairly low effort read, I find some of the minor characters more likeable than the main. Have read the books out of order and I'd say the result of doing so is fairly minor. Longer running plots centering around Merry's dating life get explained plenty of times so just picking up a book by itself is a fine way to read them.

The only thing that isn't really well defined is how time moves. Sometimes it feels like a few days have passed but it's only an afternoon or so as revealed later.
