Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People about Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge
5.0
Required reading. Not just now in light of the BLM movement, but always. In brief, Reni Eddo-Lodge speaks on the emotional exhaustion that would stem from her trying to articulate her experience as a person of colour to a white person. She speaks on the incisive history of racism in Britain and about structural racism, inherent bias and white-washed feminism. The cogency of her arguments is due to her evidence and logic based approach. A quote that stood out to me: “We don’t live in a meritocracy and to present that simple hard work will elevate all to success is an exercise of wilful ignorance”.
