I cried several times while reading this, including at the very end. I was worried that we might get a sad ending but it was so cathartic and healing to get a happy one instead. I loved the transgender narrative and particularly enjoyed how accurately Aoki portrayed the nuances of Katrina's experience. This book was, at times, heartbreaking, hopeful, fantastical yet grounded. It's well deserving of all the praise it's received!
