4.5

/ I must admit that the title of this book grabbed my attention simply because I was intrigued as to what role a 70’s rock band would play in this work of fiction. I must ask you to forgive my ignorance. I sadly have not read Dickens, and therefore was not aware that Uriah Heep is the arch nemesis of David Copperfield. Growing up, books were and still are my best friends. I mean who hasn’t wished that a character or two you encountered in the pages could magically transform into real life? I am in complete and utter awe of how Ms. Parry took me from Victorian London to present day and back again so effortlessly without so much as a chapter break. I identified and connected so deeply with Ms. Parry’s hero Charley Sutherland. He is literally my perfect book boyfriend. I invite you to please read this book even if you don’t have any acquaintance with Charles Dickens or the Classics. I had such an extraordinary experience living in this book and by extension, Ms. Parry’s beautiful mind. I’ve always felt that I never belonged to my world. I belong in the pages of fictional imaginings of fantastical worlds and enchanting characters. I felt completely at home here.
4.5 stars….I took a 1/2 star off due to the pace slowing  for a bit in the middle .
