AAAH this book was so good! i loved it. immediately the storyline with the letters and the typewriters had me hooked. i thought it was such an interesting concept. that part alone had me interested but also the war between the gods and the myths about them were interesting. i could just see the thought put into this book and the writing is very, very beautiful. i could imagine the scenes so well in my head as i read. it didn't have me bored for a second bc i couldn't exactly predict what would happen next.
after iris resigned, i was so interested to see where this would go. and i was so giddy about it when roman left the oath gazette and came to be with her.
and i loved both iris and roman! i feel like iris is so real as a character. a lot of the things she said to roman in her letters kind of resonated with me. especially that letter about the armor.
but omfg this girl can't catch a break 😭 she was suffering constantly. i nearly cried for her when her mom died. and the way she kept grieving her mom in the chapters that came after made me so sad. also the fact she was so eager to find forest but he's not the same when he comes back to her ☹ give my baby a break.
and roman omg. roman. heart eyes. he's literally so perfect.
the way this man is so down bad for iris. i love him so much. he's flustered by her simply addressing him by his first name 😭 i love how we can see how genuine his love is for her and just how IN LOVE he is with her. the first kiss had me giggling. THE PROPOSAL SCENE !!! i loved it. and the scene where they get married was so cute.
the two have such good chemistry and the banter was fun! i loved when iris started being all smiley reading and writing him letters, she's so cute.
THE ENDING THOUGH ?!?! DACRE TOOK ROMAN? FREE MY MAN. i just hope he's okay. and i hope marisol and attie are okay, too.
can't wait to read the next book!
