Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off of the floor! I'm now finished with both books in this duet, and this is, hands down, the best mafia story I have ever read. The heroine, Morgan, is utter perfection - I wouldn't change a damn thing about her personality or the choices that she makes - and best of all, she's the perfect match for my new favorite unhinged mafia anti-hero with the itchiest trigger finger and best sense of humor I've ever encountered - Lorenzo. My full review will be on book 2 of the duet, [b:Grievous|33629853|Grievous (Scarlet Scars, #2)|J.M. Darhower|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1486333784l/33629853._SY75_.jpg|54472043], once I somehow figure out how to articulate just how much I loved this.

Two quick quotes from the book to give you an idea on the dynamic between the two characters, simply because I cannot help myself, and I have a feeling that my review on Grievous is going to be long AF:

~

"You just touched a nerve, you know."
"Don't make excuses, either. Calm your tits, and it'll be okay."
"Calm my tits."
"Yes." His eyes flicker to my chest, and I know he's imagining them. "As gorgeous as those tits are, calm them."
"Fine." I scowl. "You're still an asshole, you know."

"I got you," he says for the third time, "but I'm telling you, if you start fucking crying on me right now, if you start boo-hoo'ing, there's a chance I'll just throw you over the side myself, so don't do it."
