This is my first Jack Ketchum novel, well novella, which is quite surprising for me since I am a lover of all things horror. The rest of his works are definitely going to be added on my To Read list since they seem like they'll be a great read!
Even though this is a horror novel, I would say it falls more along the lines of a gritty, gore-filled Western with some horror aspects added into the story. I definitely felt the horror, but the novella played out more like a Western novel in my head, lol.
There's not too much I can or necessarily want to say that won't give away some more of the surprise aspects of the novella, but I did like it. I will say that some of the gore and other aspects of the novel did take away some points, but that's mostly because even though I adore horror, there are some things that I can't stomach. That being said, I would give this 3.5/5!
