Very light on the world-building, this is a fantasy rom-com for non-fantasy readers. It's cute fluff with a dash of mystery in the last quarter or so, which made it feel rushed right at the end. I think the pacing was off throughout. Listening to the audiobook, I had a hard time because the narrator took me out of it—consistently mispronouncing "library" as "liberry" and completely failing the Welsh accent...criminal. While it's understandable that British characters would use British terms (shitematetaking the piss), it did not work in an American accent, unfortunately. Anyway, two stars because it was short and entertaining and I liked the vibes. I would have appreciated more of the mystery (or even foreshadowing!) earlier in the story and a deeper exploration of how magic works in the world. If you're looking for a book that reads like Halloweentown + sex, this might be the one for you!
