LOTB is cheesy, absurd, over-the-top, somewhat nonsensical (a line about wishing she’d had a digital camera to capture something when she definitely had her smartphone with her), painfully predictable (the ending was obvious within the first 45 mins of the audiobook), and often unrealistic (a 2nd year grad student who presented a talk at a conference her 2nd semester of grad school and then graduated with 24+ publications? Uhhh, okay…). That said, the love story is adorable, the casual integration of queer representation and feminist ideas is great, and I do love the idea of blending feminist modern romance with STEM/academia themes!
