The Book of Eels: Our Enduring Fascination with the Most Mysterious Creature in the Natural World by Patrik Svensson

informative mysterious reflective sad medium-paced

4.5

This feels like a brilliant, endearing autistic info dump about eels and I adored every minute of it. The author takes you on a journey to communicate history, science, religion, philosophy, the metaphysical, personal connection, and memory, woven together in a narrative that serve to emphasize the interconnected nature of all things, the necessity of curiosity and mystery, and the ways we make meaning in the West that both liberate, confound, harm, and transform landscapes, lives, and stories. I was happy to be along for the ride.
