THIS WAS FAN SERVICE AT ITS FINEST AND I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH THAT!!

If you’re like me and in 2013, had an Instagram devoted to Percabeth, well, this book is for you too! This book had Percy and Annabeth being as adorable as ever! I absolutely love how they subvert societal expectations by Percy loving her for her being so smart and her loving him for his pretty eyes! Good old Seaweed Brain and Wise Girl!

Legitimately though, this book was just 7 hours (yes I listened to the audiobook because I’ve been obsessed with Jesse Bernstein’s voice since I was nine years old and couldn’t imagine NOT listening to him once I found out he’d be back to narrate this book) of pure Percy and Annabeth being adorable! I guess Grover’s there too, which is fun since we hadn’t really seen him since the OG books. Also, Sally and Paul Blowfis (I can’t not use his last name) are in a lot of the book, which made me realize how much I missed them during HoO.

I will say that if you’re reading this for the fantasy plot, you’re not really going to get that. The only “Big Bad” is Zeus for making Percy have to get college recommendation letters. There are still monsters and gods to fight, they’re just not Chronos or Gaia. I’m really excited for at least one more book (which will likely be two) of Percy trying to get his two other recommendation letters!
