This story is a character study in life.  These characters are relatable people and I wanted the story to continue.  The author writes with such empathy and emotion.  It’s a gem.

In this small town, everyone has secrets, from their true love, to post partum depression to being the victim of spousal abuse, to being a teenager dealing with complicated feelings.  There is so much punch packed into this debut novel.

There are a lot of difficult subjects in this book, but despite it all I laughed out loud at times.  There are some real zingers.  “My wife likes to boss people around,” he says. “But life’s short and the weeds just keep growing. So if you want a burger, son, eat a burger.”

I will definitely read the next book this author writes.
