I loved this book, and I related to the MC pretty hard. I’m not an Icelandic witch in lighthouse that can heal selkies, but I am a married 29 year old in a decade-long relationship, learning what love looks like in each of our chapters. Some of the writing poked deep inside my chest, to the point that I didn’t know if I could finish reading. I’m glad I did though. Freydís is an incredible writer, and I feel like the character’s healing helped me a little with my own. I finished the book with tears and a smile, and I’m excited to order a signed physical copy off their Etsy.
There are really hard decisions in life, and one of those is deciding which Freydís book is my favorite. Everything they write is genuine literary gold.
Spice: 4/5
Angst: 2/5
