i feel like the last 25% of the book was the strongest; that's when i was the most engaged in the story & couldn't put it down.
i just found myself getting bored in the middle mainly because i was frustrated with our narrator. she was just so passive for so long that it annoyed me. i'm sure much of that was for her character development, which i suppose there was when considering the epilogue too. she also seemed to lack curiosity, such as when Ben was telling her he didn't see anything. i feel like that would have raised my suspicions. i also would have searched the cottage. i would have enjoyed her character development taking place throughout the novel rather than just at the end.
overall, i did enjoy it. lots of beautiful imagery throughout, and the mysterious elements that were there were great. i'd recommend this to anyone who wants to read a classic mystery.
