How to Fail: Everything I’ve Ever Learned From Things Going Wrong by Elizabeth Day
4.0
I loved this book. I’m surprised I’d never heard of Elizabeth before this as I’ve now gone on to watch YouTube snippets from her podcast and interviews with celebrities and can see how popular she is.
I saw someone mention they couldn’t quite connect with this book due to her privilege and also the fact she seemed to ‘name drop’ quite a bit, but I think it only adds to the point of that which is, no matter who you are or your background, failure is inevitable.
I would rate it 5/5 but the chapter on family wasn’t what I was hoping for. There didn’t really seem to have the same real life connection and subsequent lessons to be learnt as the others did and it just seemed a bit of a pointless chapter.
I recommended this book to my best friend as I just couldn’t get over how relatable and thought provoking the first half was, I was genuinely sat there thinking ‘oh my god this is exactly what I need to hear right now’, and she ended up feeling the same.
Overall, loved it. It was hard to read quickly as you find you’re taking in a lot of life lessons (for me it was anyway) and some days I just wasn’t in the mood for it, but nonetheless a lovely read.
