(Don't You) Forget About Me by Kate Karyus Quinn

2.0

There is a town where people where people can go to escape death from disease. However, to offset this ability, every four years a local teen explodes and commits a deadly crime. It is now the four year mark, Sky is still overcoming her sister Piper's crime and subsequent death from the previous fourth year. Ever since, Sky has been taking a drug that helps her forget her pain and everything else. On top of this, Sky thinks she might be the next to explode. The teens of this town are made more volatile by the special superpowers that increase as the fourth year comes closer. Sky can pull people's secrets from others and she uses this power as her own personal weapon.

I really wanted to like this book. I finished it, even though I was totally bored halfway through. I think the problem with this novel was that there was too much going on. Even giving a plot summary for this novel is confusing and missing many of the layers. Also, I aways have problems with unreliable narrators. Sky really didn't feel reliable, ever. I didn't want to put up with her crap. I found her irritating and didn't like her. I really only like one character, the rest were selfish/self involved and irritating. I tried, but this novel really didn't do it for me.
