Café Europa Revisited: How to Survive Post-Communism by Slavenka Drakulić

4.0

Enjoyed this wide-ranging discussion of Eastern (& Central) Europe both past and present. The author has some interesting insights both personal and observational, and nicely describes some of the more worrying trends like Viktor Orban and the drift towards the right in a number of countries. One minor quibble in the book is that she was not quite right in describing the ban of Stolpersteins here in Munich; there was a very vocal minority against them but they are here on private property in plain view in spite of the pushback they received.
