Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls
5.0
It has literally been more than 30 years since I have read this book. I honestly though, “I’m a big girl now, it just won’t get me the same.” Well folks, that was 100% false. Even though I knew every detail of what would happen l, even after all these years, I still cried and cried. Like big ole ugly cry. Kids laughing at me calling me a baby cry. Whew. To this day, thousands of books later, this is still one of the best, most well-written, endearing, heartbreaking love stories I have ever read in my life. And not sappy romance love. Real, genuine, childhood love. Y’all… if you’ve never read it, read it. If, like me, you haven’t read it in a few decades, read it again. Your heart will love- and hate- you for it.
