Carrie by Stephen King

dark emotional sad
  • Plot- or character-driven? Character

5.0

Carrie was the first Stephen King book to be published and through this sad heartbreaking story, he got more opportunities to write and we got to experience the marvellous mind of this marvellous genius. I digress. His introduction to the book was a really heartbreaking one and to the two girls he spoke up about, you deserved better.

Bullying is wrong. It's unjustifiable, it's mean and it's long term effects are ruthless on the victims. I can honestly say that from my past personal experience. Yes kids are kids but kids can also be hurtful and mean. Carrie went through so much and her mum being a religious fanatic didn't help with the situation. I'm just so sad at how everything unravelled. But I am also simultaneously awed because Stephen King has all my admiration (I've been saying this for a while now). I love his brain and his words and his ability to story tell and character develop. He is one of the greatest writers to ever live.
