I cried at least once a chapter reading this book. The writing style is simple and informative; this isn’t prose, it’s a woman talking about her experiences and the people she loves. It’s deeply evocative. No matter how prepared you think you are to read about the AIDS crisis in the Deep South, you will find yourself infuriated by people’s cruelty.
