The Monarch of the Glen by Neil Gaiman

3.5⭐️

Shadow has been on the road for two years now since he left behind everything that happened with Wednesday. Now, while visiting Scotland, he accepts an offer that seems too good to be true but he needs the money. As the “bodyguard” to help keep out the locals, Shadow quickly realizes there’s a lot more to this job than first meets the eye and he’s not liking what that all entails. Quick thinking and his past experiences are going to help get him out of this situation.

I’m mot sure how helpful this novella will be to the overall story for the second book but I truly enjoyed being back in this world. There’s something about Neil Gaiman’s writing that’s so comforting and makes it such a nice experience following the story (especially listening to him narrate it). Similar to the first book, Shadow encounters more mystery and characters who you some times don’t know if they’re real or not. Overall, this made me really excited to read the second novella and quickly move into book two.
