This book shifted my ideas of what it is to be dis/abled. It made me more conscious of the body I'm in and how I listen and ignore it. Beyond all that, it taught me to re-examine the way we discuss pain and conditions in relation to gendered bodies...how we view sickness in relation to the body in general. Who gets to be taken seriously as a source of how one feels? How do we diagram feelings? It was sad, funny, thoughtful. Time moved differently and I was grateful for it. A wonderful debut with its mix of poems, letters, and mini-essays. I encourage everyone to read it.
