Notes on Grief
by
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

The world consists of 2 types of souls: those who have mourned the loss of another soul so utterly imbedded in their own, and those who have not (yet).

Once you have experience this kind of loss. You are forever changed and so is your view on the world.

If you haven't read this study of grief yet, you definitely should. Whether you fall in the first or the second category will greatly influence how you read it.

I'm reading it from a point of lived experience, of recognition of who I was 17 years ago, and who I have become since. I wish I had read this before or during my loss, it might have helped me feel less isolated... but then again it might not. Grief is a human phenomena of exquisite beauty and immense value.

Post Script (on completion):
I know this. It knows me. We are familiar with each other.
