The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley

5.0

This really was the perfect book for me! An amazing detective story, different from any I have read before. I loved the main character, Flavia de Luce, who´s only 11 years old. I admit that she seemed too smart and brave for her age at times but it didn´t really bother me. I found the chemistry aspect interesting, since I love chemistry myself. At first the murder case seemed a little boring, but when story and history started to unravel I was totally hooked. The last hundred pages I had to read in one sitting, I was so captivated in the story.
Still, the greatest thing about this book was Alan Bradley´s writing. It was full of metaphors and he descriped things in such an unique way, weird even, that they sometimes made me giggle. Overall, one of the most enjoyable reading experiences I´ve had in a while, really recommend to anyone who likes detective storys.
