The Woman in Me by Britney Spears

dark emotional inspiring sad fast-paced

4.0

Sped through this like my life depended on it 😅 This is the fourth memoir I've read this year (and probably the last one of the year). After reading this, I'm convinced that memoirs aren't just a way to capture stories of people's lives but a platform for people to regain their voices.

13 years under strict conservatorship is... Mind boggling. I can't comprehend it. Here we are thinking the celebrities we idolise lead fabulous lives but they actually are very trapped.

There's a lot more left unsaid in between the chapters and we'll never know the full story of how the conservatorship unravelled, most likely for legal reasons, because it's kept quite one sided and the details are murky. However I'm glad that Britney found her voice and found the courage to fight and live.
