A Court of Thorns and Roses, by Sarah J. Maas

adventurous dark medium-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

3.5

First 50% was a 3 stars for me. It felt like Beauty and the Beast, anyone else? Feyre forced to leave her family that all lived in poverty to an extravagant manor where she could do as she wishes, never having to worry food, clothes ect
Spoiler yeah the whole library as a gift? Beauty and the beast for sure (ugh maybe stop saying “growling” too 🤢)

Also I wasn’t comfortable with Tamlin being the love interest everything to me seemed forced like:
Spoiler
-several times since she was told by the suriel “Stay with the High Lord. You will be safe.”  She thought back on that several times like Uh she can think for herself..
-Even if he brings her emotions out with library/study and gallery and painting stuff… gifts seems like coercion
-"You could have been the one to free him and his power, had you not been so blind to your own heart “Humans," she spat. “I.-I " I lifted my hands, exposing my palms to her. "I didn't know." "You couldn't know," Alis said bitterly, her laugh harsh as she entered the pantry again. "It was part of Tamlin's curse."  And you’re telling me that’s not more coercion lol yeahhhh

Overall would have preferred her with Lucian if it had to be one of them but a trope I would love is Feyre and Rhysand?!?! We’ll see now that
Spoiler she made that bargain with him

Onto the next one!!
