What It’s About: This is part of a series by Amazon where popular thriller authors write stories with a common theme of deception. This entry deals with an island compound where a father is trying to protect his children from a war.
Plot: I love the concept of this series, and I think this was a clever entry to start with, though the twist at the end is fairly obvious if you’re paying attention, hence my rating.
Style: I loved how Ware used little details to ground the reader in terms of time. I enjoyed that progression in the story in particular.
Graphic: Child abuse, Gun violence, Grief, and Death of parent
Moderate: Kidnapping
Minor: Animal death, Blood, and War
